The Greenhorizons Group of Farms has been a dominate sod supplier in Ontario for over 35 years. The knowledge, passion and energy for turf throughout the company by the owners (Ron and Steve Schiedel), Managers and workers is second to none. The key element of growing sod successfully is taking full advantage of every turf growing day of the year.

Two Professional Soccer teams go head to head at the Rogers center and they want to play on REAL GRASS. So Greenhorizons have been commissioned to convert the Rogers Centre into a GRASS playing field. The surface of artificial turf can reach high temperatures causing dangerous burns, as well as certain injuries being seen more often due directly to artificial turf and its inherent make-up and inflexibility. What's worse is that the materials used for synthetic turf fields and infill not only carry harmful bacteria, but trap unsanitary body fluids, opening the way for infection; chemicals used for sanitation create additional problems. It's no wonder more and more players are requesting real grass playing fields. You can find more information on the "real" debate here.

Greenhorizons is an international leader in the Turfgrass industry. Greenhorizons is a company that perfects the process of pooling its resources from all its divisions. With the right specialty equipment and the right people there's no job they can't do. Their purpose built equipment has been carefully selected to minimize traffic damage on turf. Their instal crew aims to be the best in the business and take pride in their work. This is why they can feel comfortable with Guaranteed results. This year’s goal is to have the complete installation of over 100 000 sq ft done in less than 12 hours.

Championship quality turf with rugged wear tolerance

Dwarf characteristics with superior density

Natural dark green color with rapid injury recovery

Hard-wearing, hard playing natural

The sod needed for this application is an unusually thick cut of Greenhorizons Premium Low mow sod blend. The rolls are extremely heavy- an important factor in stable sod for the game. By cutting the rolls extra thick, the extra weight insures the sod does not move or shift during game play- optimizing the playability of the field.
